New Alabama Immigration Law

These thoughts and opinions that I'm getting off of my chest today are about the new Alabama immigration law.

1. This law is worded to be about a person's citizenship status. Not race or even country of origin. Which means, legally, it applies equally to Mexicans as it does to Africans, French, German, Irish, Asian, Australian, British, and even Canadians. So don't bother giving me BS whining about the race thing. It's not involved here. Yes, I know, that it will have more of an impact on Mexican/Latino illegal immigrants than any other but then again Mexican/Latinos make up the vast majority of illegal immigrants so, respectively and realistically, it SHOULD apply to them more. But once again, legally, it applies to all equally and as such is not racist.

2. I have absolutely NO problems with immigration. However, what I do have a problem with is ILLEGAL immigration. If illegals aren't going to be bothered with coming here legally then why should we suspect that they will do ANYTHING legally while here? Obviously illegals don't REALLY care about our laws or they'd respect them enough to follow them to get in the legal and proper way.

3. Aside from how they get here, illegals cause MANY other problems just by being here. Let's take children as an example. For the purposes of this post i'm going to assume that the child was not born here and is also illegal (some are and some aren't). So you (you being any illegal person) want your child to go to school to receive an American education. Understandable. But first your child needs their vaccination. Oh wait, you're not a citizen so you tell them you have no money (probably in a language the Dr./nurse doesn't understand even though you speak the language they speak). So the clinic/office/hospital eats the cost... wait. No they don't. They raise their prices to cover the costs. That means everyone else pays more to make up the difference you're creating, which makes it that much harder for me to keep my children healthy, because you're illegal.

Now your child has their vaccinations, they can go to school. HOORAH! Wait, they need textbooks... Oh, nevermind. The SCHOOL provides text books, DUH!.... Nope. As a taxpayer my fellow LEGAL citizens and I pay income taxes that you don't which means WE pay for your kids' books, because you're illegal.

OK, so, your kid is in school and they have their textbooks. Awesome. Oh wait.... The teacher now has extra students (because you're not the only illegal, you brought your whole family). This means my child, who IS legal, who got their text books paid for legally and fairly now gets less time with the teacher which means they get a poorer quality level of education, because you're illegal.

Wait, your kid speaks broken English, English being the language most classrooms are taught in, the language most textbooks are written in. So they're not doing so hot in school. Great, your illegal kid is now lowering the test scores of the class and school. Do you know what that means? It means the school gets less funding! Which means my kid now gets even older text books, making the quality of education that much more lower, because you're illegal.

Ohhhh, I know, you're kid isn't doing so hot in school because you can't afford school lunches. Not because they barely speak English (let alone write it). Well, allow me to have my taxes give your kid free lunch for 13 years (K - 12). What's that you say? No, the school our children attends doesn't need fancy equipment like computers to teach our children computer skills, which they'll need to have a hope of getting any kind of job that pays better than a burger flipper. They don't need to know that fancy Microsoft Excel. It's the least I can sacrifice for my child so your child can get free lunches, because you're illegal.

I'll gladly sacrifice all of that (and much, MUCH, more) so that you can come here and have a better life, It's the LEAST that I could do. What's that? You could have these same opportunities in your country if your people actually bothered to fight for them? That's Ok. My forefathers already died for those privileges right here in good 'ol US of A, go ahead and come on over here, feel free to soak in the luxuries provided by the generations of struggle of my family and the families of my fellow legal citizens. It's ok, because you're illegal.

Now, that's just some of the many enjoyments I have to deal with just because you brought your child here illegally for our schools.Do you want to hear about the many other benefits I suffer from because YOU are here? No? I thought not.

  1. Let us not forget the illegal immigrants who are allowed to have legal driving licenses. They are uninsurable because they have no LEGAL residence, so they drive vehicles that are either uninsured or are insured for/by someone who is not them and therefore they are not covered on most policies, because they are illegal. Which means when they have an accident they cannot be held liable for damages, because they are illegal. So, when I drive my child to school in my legal car, my legal insurance premiums are DOUBLED because I live in a neighborhood where there are apparently lots of illegal immigrants which makes it more difficult for me financially and takes away from clothing, food, utility payments - everything - I need to pay for my children. All because they are illegal.
